SEVENTEEN Tops Oricon's 2018 Indie Albums List; PENTAGON Lands 2 Albums In Top 10
Oricon has unveiled its year-end Indie Albums rankings for 2018, and both SEVENTEEN and PENTAGON made strong showings on this year’s list!
SEVENTEEN took No. 1 in the Japanese music chart’s year-end rankings, which only includes albums that were not distributed by a major label in Japan. The group topped the list with their Japanese debut mini album “We Make You,” which was released in May of this year.
Not only did “We Make You” top Oricon’s Daily Albums chart shortly after its release, but it also recently charted at No. 28 on Oricon’s 2018 year-end Top Album Rankings (which includes all albums sold in Japan this year). The mini album also earned SEVENTEEN their very first gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) last month.
PENTAGON’s third Japanese mini album “Shine” (featuring the Japanese version of their breakout hit) took No. 4 on the list, while the group’s previous Japanese mini album “Violet” charted at No. 10.
Congratulations to both groups!
