Kwanghee's Agency Responds To Allegations Against His Manager
Bonboo Entertainment has issued an official statement regarding an online accusation made against Yoo Si Jong, Kwanghee’s new manager.
On December 23, after Yoo Si Jong appeared on the MBC reality show “The Manager,” where he and Kwanghee met for the first time, an anonymous individual claimed in an online community post that Yoo Si Jong had been a bully and a delinquent student.
The post stated, “I’m getting goosebumps. Kwanghee’s manager and I went to Uijeongbu Middle School together. He was born in 1990 and is 29 years old [by Korean reckoning]. He went to both elementary and middle school in Uijeongbu, and he was notorious for being one of the most frightening bullies in the school district.
“Bullies typically say that when they were in middle school, they just hung out with their friends, and even if they smoked or drank, they never did anything bad like hitting or stealing. After all, there’s no evidence anymore at the moment, and the only evidence left is my sad memories.”
The writer of the post then shared that although Yoo Si Jong had not been the direct perpetrator of the bullying, he could tell what kind of person Yoo Si Jong was by looking at his friends. Pointing out that Park Sung Kwang‘s manager had become a celebrity after appearing on “The Manager” and was now starring in commercials and advertisements, the writer commented, “It makes me furious that the same thing could happen to him.”
On December 26, Bonboo Entertainment issued an official response, stating, “We personally checked with [Yoo Si Jong] himself, and he says that the allegation that he was a bully during his school days is not true.”
The agency went on, “Due to privacy laws, there is no way to contact the writer of the post. If the writer contacts our agency via email or phone, we will formally pay the individual a visit and listen to the whole story, in order to discuss whether there is anything we can do as a company.
“We apologize for unintentionally giving the broadcast network cause for concern. We will do our best to make sure that this does not affect Kwanghee or the show.”
When asked whether Kwanghee will continue to appear on “The Manager” in the future, the agency replied, “We are not currently in a position to be having those discussions.”
