iKON Wins Digital Song Of The Year At The 33rd Golden Disc Awards
What a great start to 2019 for iKON!
On January 5, the group was recognized for their success throughout 2018 during the first day of the 33rd Golden Disc Awards. The ceremony’s first night recognized digital releases over the past year and was held at the Gocheok Sky Dome.
iKON was not only awarded Digital Song Division Bonsang, but also was the recipient of the Digital Song of the Year (Digital Daesang) for their iconic hit “Love Scenario.” This marks their second daesang (grand prize) overall, following their first from the 2018 Melon Music Awards last month.
Speaking for the group, leader B.I expressed, “I have goosebumps all over and I’m shaking…First of all, our iKONICs [iKON’s fan club]. The reason iKONICs are first is undeniably because you are why iKON exists, why we are standing here, and the ones who made our song become the most loved. I really thank you. It is an honor to be able to live in your memories. There are definitely many people we need to thank, but we will contact them individually. I’m not sure what to say. I was so surprised, and I can’t calm down.”
Taking over, Junhoe shared, “The thing I want to say most right now is we will never forget to be grateful and we will endlessly aim to move forward as a group with a humble and grateful heart. Thank you!”
Bobby quickly thanked his parents and added, “Happy new year. Thank you for giving us such a huge award to start off the new year.”
The group also took to Twitter and Instagram to thank their fans once again. On Instagram, they wrote in both Korean and English while on Twitter, they shared a longer message expressing similar sentiments, adding at the end, “Thank you once again for helping iKON’s songs be loved and for creating a page of happy memories.”
