(G)I-DLE, Stray Kids, And IZ*ONE Talk About Winning Rookie Awards At 33rd Golden Disc Awards

(G)I-DLE, Stray Kids, And IZ*ONE recently discussed winning their rookie awards at this year’s Golden Disc Awards.

The 33rd Golden Disc Awards was held on January 5 and January 6 at the Gocheok Sky Dome. The two-day award ceremony highlighted some of the biggest digital and physical releases in 2018.

All three groups made their debut in 2018 and each has shown a unique presence in the industry. As a project group of Mnet’s “Produce” series, IZ*ONE has already gathered strong fanbases in both Korea and Japan. (G)I-DLE and Stray Kids have been drawing attention since their debuts and were nominated for both the rookie award and other Bonsang categories.

(G)I-DLE, who won Rookie of the Year on January 5, stated, “We’re so honored and grateful. We feel blessed and happy to win Rookie of the Year as soon as the year began.” They continued, “We will not stop here, and instead, we will grow more. We will work hard to repay [fans] with good performances and music. We’re preparing hard for our album, and we’ll also be having a reality show in mid-January. We’ll be displaying various images [of ourselves] outside of the ones on stage, so we hope you’ll look forward to it.”

Stray Kids, who won Rookie of the Year alongside IZ*ONE on January 6, remarked, “Just attending the time-honored Golden Disc Awards is an honor, but we’re so happy to receive an award as well. We were able to win the award because Stay [Stray Kids’ fanclub] always supported us. This is the first rookie award of this year, so it means a lot to us.” The group added, “We were so excited to perform right after receiving the rookie award. We were happy to have danced and sang so excitedly to the point where we couldn’t see what was in front of us. It’s a relief that we were able to complete what we prepared without making any mistakes. As we go through each day without wasting it, we will become a more mature Stray Kids.”

IZ*ONE commented, “We were able to receive [the award] thanks to fans. Thank you very much. We feel nervous, excited, and various emotions, but gratitude seems to come first. We were able to win the award because of the staff members who worked hard and helped us.” The girl group also shared their plans for 2019 as they stated, “We want to try holding a concert this year. We will practice hard and become an IZ*ONE that shows our best sides.”

Congratulations to the artists!
