On January 11, the MBC drama “A Pledge to God” held a press conference that was attended by Han Chae Young, Bae Soo Bin, Oh Yoon Ah, Lee Chun Hee, and Wang Suk Hyun.
During the event, Wang Suk Hyun candidly opened up about a recent incident involving a sasaeng calling his school and agency by phone and threatening to kill him. His agency Lionheart Entertainment released an official statement on December 26, 2018 that they were working with the police on the issue. According to the police, the suspect was a man in his thirties who is a fan of the actor and when asked why he did it, he is said to have testified, “I’ve been a fan of his for a long time but he would never meet me, so I decided to express the threats.”
Due to this incident, Wang Suk Hyun had to refrain from leaving his house for some time and was also provided with additional security by his agency.
During the press conference, Wang Suk Hyun appeared calm as he said, “The incident is in the past, and I’m okay now.” He also added, “I feel at ease when I’m on set. The atmosphere on set is so great that I feel good,” and stated that the other actors have always taken good care of him and looked after him from the beginning.
Despite the dangerous situation he was in, Wang Suk Hyun has maintained a mature and calm attitude throughout. When news first broke, he shared a photo of himself smiling on his personal social media account to reassure fans, and he remained calm throughout the press conference as well.
