Korean Film "The Villainess" To Be Adapted Into American TV Series
The 2017 film “The Villainess,” starring Kim Ok Bin, is coming to the small screen!
On January 15, Contents Panda of Next Entertainment World reported that the company has signed a partnership with Skybound Entertainment to produce TV series based on the 2017 Korean action film “The Villainess.”
“The Villainess” follows the life story of a ruthless assassin named Sook Hee (played by Kim Ok Bin), who was taught to kill from a very young age. The film was invited to the 70th Cannes International Film Festival for a midnight screening, where it received a lengthy standing ovation.
The TV series will tell the story of a woman who has been raised as an assassin under a secret organization in Los Angeles, California. They will officially begin filming once they wrap up the script and casting.
Skybound Entertainment is well-known for producing popular American TV series “Walking Dead.” The company commented, “We plan to showcase an action-packed thriller series by expanding the world of ‘The Villainess.'”
Director Jung Byung Gil, who will be directing the pilot set of the TV series, commented, “I expect the TV series to bring new fun to viewers that they couldn’t quite see in the movie with both action scenes and a story that will unfold with continuity.”
