SEVENTEEN Discusses Upcoming Album, Plans For 2019, And Becoming A Senior Idol Group
On January 14, SEVENTEEN sat down for an interview with news outlet Star News and talked about their upcoming album, future goals, and more.
With SEVENTEEN’s fourth anniversary coming up in May, they are now deemed as a senior idol group. Seungkwan shared that they feel like a senior group when junior groups come to respectfully greet them at their waiting rooms during music shows, and Hoshi said, “A 14-year-old male trainee at Pledis (SEVENTEEN’s agency) once wrote me a letter saying that I was his motivation to become a singer. I was really moved and amazed by the letter. When I joined Pledis, I was in my third year of middle school.”
When asked if their teamwork is as good as it was in the beginning, the members replied that Dino is one of the biggest reasons that their teamwork is as strong as ever. Dino explained, “We’ve been with each other for a while now so sometimes teamwork is not considered a priority, but I still try to express my thoughts [about teamwork]. I wanted to genuinely express my feelings about our team and the members. I think this is the first step to good teamwork.” To this, Dokyeom added, “We’re thankful that Dino works hard for the team. He’s younger than me but I learn a lot from him. His efforts for the team are not just for show.”
Regarding their upcoming album “You Made My Dawn,” Woozi revealed, “Up until now we’ve done many different concepts with various types of music. For this album as well, instead of creating a big change, we want to get our message across to our fans and the masses. The album is filled with songs you can listen to comfortably. It’ll warm you up during the winter.”
Asked about their goals for 2019, Wonwoo and Joshua wished for all of the members to be healthy. Seungkwan shared, “Our fans are always wondering when we will get to rest, but they still love it when we make a comeback. Though we weren’t able to receive the Daesang (grand prize) we were aiming for, I don’t want to think of it as a failure because this isn’t the end. The Daesang will always be one of our ambitions.” “Dreams come true,” added Dino.
Finally, they talked about any special events they might have for their fans in the future. Mingyu said, “SEVENTEEN is always open to unit promotions. The rest of the members really enjoyed watching BSS’s promotions. I’m looking forward to it.” Woozi added, “Any combination of our members could work, and we have several possible combinations. We would always love to [have unit promotions] if given the chance.” S.Coups also talked about their hopes to have many overseas promotions and meet with international fans.
