Celebrities Who Aren't Afraid To Express Self-Love In Public

Many Korean celebrities are blessed with the kind of good looks that make other people naturally come out in praise of their beauty.

However, in Korea and many other parts of the world, it is still considered somewhat socially taboo to talk about your own attractiveness. Therefore, many celebrities will downplay their beauty by being modest about the way they look.

On the other hand, there are a few celebrities who aren’t afraid to embrace the concept of self-love and openly talk about their own charms in public.

BTS’s Jin

Loving and accepting yourself is a key part of BTS’s message, and no one has embraced it better than Jin! His handsomeness has been acknowledged by many fans across the world, but Jin knows that the most important opinion when it comes to loving yourself is, well, yourself.

He refers to himself publicly as “worldwide handsome” and frequently comments on his own attractiveness. This might sometimes embarrass his fellow members, but fans know that this is part of Jin’s charm!

Yoo Seung Ho

There’s no denying that this child actor grew up into a handsome leading man, and apparently Yoo Seung Ho is well aware of his own charm. When asked during a press conference what he thought about his own popularity, he said, “[Maybe it’s because] I look like I’m made of CG [computer graphics]?”

Although he quickly followed that up with, “I think I made a mistake,” it’s clear that Yoo Seung Ho knows that he’s good-looking and isn’t ashamed to riff on it in public.

Red Velvet’s Joy

Where would Joy be without her signature confidence? She knows that she’s beautiful and isn’t afraid to show she knows it. On MBC’s “We Got Married,” she watched a video of her debut and said, “People said that I was as fresh as fruit juice then. When I smiled, it was fresh and sweet as juice.”

After getting the nickname “sexy dynamite” from fans, she was proud of it and referenced the nickname on Lifetime’s variety show “Pajama Friends.”

Jung Woo Sung

Jung Woo Sung is a veteran actor, known for his talent as much as his good looks, and frequently appears on women’s ideal type lists. In an interview, he was asked about his attractiveness and he gave an honest answer. “It’s exciting,” he said. “There’s always something new to look at. Being good-looking is the best.”

When he appeared on “Infinite Challenge,” someone asked him if there were any downsides to being attractive. He replied definitively in the negative.

Jun Ji Hyun

Acknowledged by many to be the one of the most beautiful actresses in South Korea, Jun Ji Hyun was once asked what it would be like if she was in a girl group. The actress then showed the confidence she infuses in roles like top Hallyu star Chun Song Yi by replying, “If I was in a girl group, I would be the center.”

In another interview, she said, “I was watching a movie [that I was in] and when I appeared onscreen, it was really interesting. Every time I thought the movie was getting boring, I would appear again. I like it when I appear onscreen.” She was probably joking to some extent, but many fans would agree with her assessment!

AOA’s Seolhyun

Seolhyun’s beauty makes her a sought-after actress and commercial model in addition to her popularity as an idol. Despite this constant praise from others around her, Seolhyun knows that it’s inner confidence that matters the most.

During a behind-the-scenes video in which Seolhyun was waiting for her hair to be styled, the production staff commented that the video didn’t have very interesting content. Seolhyun then replied, “Isn’t my face interesting, though?”

EXO’s Chanyeol

Confidence is this idol’s middle name! Chanyeol has long been known for his good looks, from his trainee days at SM Entertainment to the time that he starred in a Girls’ Generation music video. However, he has revealed that his careful curation of his charms started quite early on.

On a broadcast he shared that whenever he went to lunch with his juniors as a student, he would never run but always maintain an aura by walking slowly. He would also deliberately sideways glance at the people around him while pretending to look casually around him.

ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo

Cha Eun Woo’s handsomeness has gotten him compared to many webtoon and manwha characters, culminating in his getting the role of the male lead in “My ID Is Gangnam Beauty” (a JTBC drama based on a webtoon). On a recent radio show appearance with ASTRO, he and Moonbin were asked if they ever got tired of being called good-looking.

Moonbin said, “I like it, but Eun Woo might be tired of it.” However, Cha Eun Woo replied, “No, I feel good every time I hear it.”
