Lee Se Young Doesn't Know Which Of Yeo Jin Goo's Characters From "The Crowned Clown" She Loves More
Lee Se Young, starring alongside Yeo Jin Goo in “The Crowned Clown,” which is breaking its own ratings records with each episode, spoke about her character and peoples’ reactions to the drama.
She has yet to really feel the popularity of the drama, as she’s often on the road back-and-forth from the set, which is out in the countryside. “However, a lot of people have told me that they’re enjoying the drama. I had hoped that people would like the drama, and hearing how great the response has been, I’m so happy and thankful.”
The historical costumes are always a treat for viewers in any sageuk, especially that of the royals. In “The Crowned Clown,” Lee Se Young’s queenly garb is especially a thing of beauty. The actress credited the costume team for their hard work. “I’m just thankful for those that prepare the costumes to fit the character.”
However, the layers and layers of costume are not without difficulty. Lee Se Young, who is in her first historical drama since 2012’s “Dream of the Emperor,” said, “Having to act in unfamiliar clothes, an unfamiliar hairstyle, and an unfamiliar manner of speaking, there are times when those restrictions are difficult.”
Lee Se Young plays the queen to Yeo Jin Goo’s king, and on working with the younger actor, she said, “Yeo Jin Goo is a good person and colleague, and because he’s an actor I can trust, I can have fun when filming.” Both the king and the clown have a place in her heart, she said. “Sometimes, I feel a pull towards Lee Heon, and sometimes, my heart goes to Ha Seon. The loneliness of Lee Heon brings out the caretaker in me, while Ha Seon’s warmth is something that I want to lean on. They both have their charms, so it’s hard to support just one.”
The Crowned Clown” has more romance to come, Lee Se Young said. “In the coming episodes, So Woon will experience a loving, but uncertain love story.”
“The drama starts now,” said the actress, “so please tune in to see how the story will unfold and what So Woon will do.”
“The Crowned Clown” airs on Mondays and Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. KST.
