Don Spike Talks About Receiving Royalties From EXO's "Miracles In December"
On the January 24 broadcast of KBS’s “Happy Together 4,” singer and composer Don Spike appeared as a guest along with actor Kim Kwang Gyu, Brown Eyed Girls’s JeA, rapper Cheetah, SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu, and Chungha.
When the show’s hosts asked Don Spike about receiving royalties for various tracks he wrote, Don Spike answered, “I used to receive a lot in the past, but not as much nowadays.”
When asked which one is the biggest money maker, Don Spike named EXO’s “Miracles in December.” He explained, “The royalty fees from that song are enough to buy a sedan.”
Don Spike continued, “I am more active on TV shows these days, so I don’t earn as much from songwriting. I think people such as Yoo Hee Yeol and Yoon Jong Shin, who are active in both TV shows and songwriting, are amazing. I don’t think I can do both at the same time.”
