U-KISS's Jun Talks About Lessons He Learned From UNB, Upcoming Solo Activities, And His Acting Career
In a recent interview, U-KISS’s Jun talked about his acting career, promoting with UNB, and his future activities with U-KISS.
Jun shared, “I always had a wish [to get into acting]. When you have a career as a singer, you have to shoot a music video as well, and in that, you have to act. I had to control my facial expressions to the song and do other things, but I couldn’t do it well, so the music video shoot ended really late. The other members finished in 30 to 40 minutes, but it took me an hour and a half. It hurt my pride. That’s why I thought I should practice. I practiced while looking in the mirror. I felt time gradually shortening. I thought it would be fun to say [the lines] out loud, so I picked a script and practiced it. It was much more fun than I expected. I felt like I was a different person. Since then, I got to perform in musicals as I practiced while selecting scripts. Acting was so great, and I fell into the world of acting.”
The singer then talked about UNB’s final concert in Japan. He said, “It’s a shame that the members had to break apart, but I thought I could part happily if everyone had something they gained. It is an opportunity for a new starting point for each member. It wasn’t a long time, but I think I’ve learned a lot in a year. Because it was a time in which I reflected a lot, it became a turning point for Lee Jun Young [Jun’s given name] to grow. Personally, it’s really sad that I have to part from Feeldog.”
When asked if he would begin promoting with U-KISS next, Jun answered, “I’m beginning my solo activities first. I’ll be promoting in Japan during March and releasing an album in April. Promoting in Korea is still up in the air. I’m working hard to prepare [for these activities].”
He then talked about his goals as an actor for 2019, stating, “Since I won a Rookie of the Year award last year, I can no longer be nominated for a Rookie Award [in 2019]. This means that I’m no longer a rookie. I want to act in a way that anyone can relate when they see me acting. I feel like I’m still lacking. I want to make up for that insufficiency and become an actor who can empathize with the public.” Jun then remarked that he wanted to try acting in heavier roles.
Jun finally concluded the interview by delivering a message to his fans. He remarked, “I hope this year will be a year where we can succeed in our own spaces. I hope that if there is a difficult problem, instead of sinking into it, we can became an artist and fans who are a good influence on each other. I’m still lacking, but I’m looking forward to this year as well.”
