Taemin Shares Thoughts On SHINee Members Enlisting In Military And Missing Jonghyun
On February 11, SHINee’s Taemin participated in an interview ahead of the release of his second mini album “WANT.” Returning as a soloist for the first time in a year and a half, Taemin announced that he will be focusing more on his individual activities this year.
Taemin said, “As I’m making my solo comeback for the first time in a very long time, I would like to pour [all of my energy] into [promotions] and show many different things. If I release another album besides this upcoming album, I would like to reveal a new side of myself. I also have plans to hold a concert. It will happen sometime this year.”
The SHINee members, with Onew already serving in the military since December 2018, are facing military enlistment. Key has been accepted into the military band and will be enlisting on March 4, and Minho is also planning to enlist in the military this year.
Taemin, who is the youngest member of the group, commented, “I met my members for the first time 14 years ago. I met them when I was in 6th grade and they were in middle school, and seeing some of them turn 30 makes me think, ‘time has passed.'”
The singer continued, “Because I’ve always been going to the same office, and since it’s very close [to my house], I don’t feeling like anything around me has changed. However, once in a while, I suddenly realize how much everything has changed.”
Taemin also mentioned Jonghyun and shared when he misses him the most. The singer said, “I think [I miss him] very suddenly. Truly out of the blue. I would be fine, and then suddenly, I’m reminded of him.”
The idol concluded, “SHINee released three albums last year. At the time, we thought, ‘Rather than hiding, let’s show [ourselves] even more.’ We talked amongst ourselves that we will act the same, so hopefully, other people will also treat us the same way.”
Taemin’s second mini album “WANT” will be released on February 11 at 6 p.m. KST.
