The East Light's Lee Seok Cheol And Lee Seung Hyun File Arbitration Request Against Media Line For Unpaid Wages
The East Light’s Lee Seok Cheol and Lee Seung Hyun have filed a request for arbitration against their former agency, Media Line.
On February 13, the lawyer representing the Lee brothers stated, “We have submitted a request to the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board. The exclusive contract with Media Line included an arbitration clause and we are following that process.”
The lawyer, whose name is Jung Ji Suk, continued, “Lee Seok Cheol and Lee Seung Hyun did not receive any payment during their promotions from 2016 to 2018. We filed a request for arbitration to check if there were any problems with the payment process.”
The lawyer also gave a statement on filing a lawsuit against Media Line CEO Kim Chang Hwan and company president Lee Jung Hyun for defamation of character. “We’ve completed the investigation process for the plaintiff. The complaint is based on the press conference that Kim Chang Hwan held. I think that results will come out in the not-too-distant future.”
In October 2018, Lee Seok Cheol held a press conference to state that he had been physically and verbally abused by music producer Moon Young Il multiple times across many years. Since then, Moon Young Il has been arrested and is currently being held on charges of continued assault. In January, Kim Chang Hwan was indicted without detention for charges of child abuse and aiding in child abuse.
Lee Seok Cheol and Lee Seung Hyun have also refuted the statements that their former agency and other The East Light members gave against them in their press conference.
The first official trial in this case begins on March 5.
