Jeon Somi is reportedly gearing up to make her long-awaited solo debut in May!
On February 23, Korean media outlet SPOTV News reported that according to an unnamed industry insider, Jeon Somi’s solo debut has officially been scheduled for May. The former I.O.I member is said to be debuting with a track produced by Teddy, who has recently been churning out a string of hit songs for female soloists (including Sunmi‘s “Gashina” and BLACKPINK’s Jennie‘s “SOLO“).
The source claims that Jeon Somi recently completed recording her solo debut song and is currently preparing to shoot the accompanying music video. According to the report, it is not yet known whether her highly-anticipated first solo release will take the form of a single or a mini album.
Jeon Somi, who first debuted as the center of “Produce 101” project group I.O.I in 2016, signed with Teddy’s YG Entertainment subsidiary The Black Label last year, after parting ways with her former agency JYP Entertainment. The singer recently hinted at her impending solo debut by sharing a photo of herself in the recording studio with Zion.T and several members of The Black Label staff.
Are you excited to hear that Jeon Somi may be making her solo debut in the near future? Stay tuned for more updates!
