Agencies Deny Reports Of Potential I.O.I Reunion
Agencies have denied recent reports that I.O.I is in talks for a reunion.
On February 26, it was reported that the project group was in talks to return. The report claimed that Jeon Somi had already stated that she would be unavailable, and other agencies had already begun discussing details for a reunion.
However, agencies have stepped forward to deny the reports. A source from MBK Entertainment, which houses DIA’s Jung Chaeyeon, stated, “Though there have been talks about a reunion between the members in the past, there aren’t any actual detailed plans to go forward with a reunion.”
Chungha’s agency MNH Entertainment also stated, “It is true that the members talk about holding a reunion every year. However, there have never been any detailed plans set.” A source from Starship Entertainment, which manages WJSN’s Yeonjung, stated, “Though a reunion is something that gets brought up every year, we haven’t heard of any plans for one.”
I.O.I was a project group formed through Mnet’s “Produce 101.” They were active from May 2016 till January 2017, and the group formed a large fandom and gained popularity. After they disbanded, Kim Sejeong and Mina went to gugudan, Jung Chaeyeon went to DIA, Choi Yoojung and Kim Doyeon went to Weki Meki, Kyulkyung and Nayoung went to PRISTIN, and Yeonjung went to WJSN. Kim So Hye has been focusing on acting, and Chungha is pursuing a career as a solo artist. Jeon Somi is currently preparing to make her solo debut in May.
