Girls' Generation's Yuri Reveals Sunny's Sweet Request For Her Former Co-Stars Lee Soon Jae And Shin Goo
Girls’ Generation’s Yuri revealed a special request from her fellow member Sunny.
On February 26, a press conference for the play “Grandpa Henri and I” (also known as “The Student and Mister Henri”) was held with Chae Soo Bin, Yuri, Lee Soon Jae, and Shin Goo in attendance.
Yuri said, “It’s my first play, so I feel a lot of pressure. Instead of feeling like I need to do better than my previous performance [in 2017], I think that it’s more important to practice hard and try my best so I’m working hard.”
Speaking about support from her members, she continued, “After I said that I’m participating in the project and articles were published, Sunny said, ‘Please take good care of the grandpas Yuri. I’ll make sure to go watch it,’ since she went on a trip with the senior actors [on ‘Grandpas over Flowers’]. She had seen this play before, but told me that she’ll come watch it for the second time. She also gave me a tip on how to get closer with the senior actors quickly.”
She added, “YoonA, Seohyun, and everyone are all really curious. They cheered me on a lot.”
“Grandpa Henri and I” is about a cranky, stubborn grandpa named Henri and a college student named Constance who’s rebelling while searching for her dream. The play chronicles the process of them becoming special existences in each other’s lives, and tells the story of the growth of people through the conflict and communication between generations.
This play is written by French playwright Ivan Calbérac that premiered in France in 2012 and received an award. A film of the same name was produced in 2015, and the play first premiered in Korea in 2017.
The cast for this play includes Lee Soon Jae, Shin Goo, Yuri, Chae Soo Bin, Kim Dae Ryung, Jo Dal Hwan, Kim Eun Hee, Yoo Ji Soo, and more. Lee Soon Jae and Shin Goo, who also appeared in the play in 2017, will play the part of Henri who has some trouble with people around them due to their cranky personalities, but gives heartfelt advice to Constance in support of her dreams.
Chae Soo Bin and Yuri will appear as the college student Constance who rebels without knowing what she wants. Kim Dae Ryung and Jo Dal Hwan will portray Henry’s son Paul who has had a longtime feud with his dad, while Kim Eun Hee and Yoo Ji Soo will appear as a vibrant, unique, and chatty French woman named Valerie.
“Grandpa Henri and I” will premiere on March 15.
