Producing Director And Writer Of "SKY Castle" In Talks To Collaborate On Another Drama
The writer and producing director (PD) of the hit drama “SKY Castle” may be working together on a new project soon!
On March 6, the CEO of “SKY Castle’s” production company, Drama House, spoke to JTBC’s “Jtalk Interview” and said, “I don’t know when people will be able to see it, but writer Yoo Hyun Mi and director Jo Hyun Tak are in discussions for their next project together.”
“SKY Castle,” which aired on JTBC, premiered to low ratings of 1.7 percent in November, but through word-of-mouth, achieved the highest ratings of any cable network drama in history.
Actresses Yum Jung Ah, Kim Seo Hyung, and Yoon Se Ah, as well as younger actors Kim Hye Yoon, Kim Bo Ra, Jo Byeong Gyu, and SF9’s Chani, have all gained acclaim for their performances in the black comedy about the “1 percent” of society.
The CEO, Park Joon Seo, said, “The best drama scripts are written by writers who tell their own stories, and I have faith that the writer of ‘SKY Castle’ can use her experiences to write an amazing script.”
He added, “Yoo Hyun Mi remembered Jo Hyun Tak from their first meeting fifteen years ago and asked him directly if he wanted to work with her on ‘SKY Castle.'”
He continued, “When we were first preparing for production, there were lots of concerns that the drama wouldn’t appeal to single people or DINK [double income no kids] families, since it was about students on the verge of entering university and their parents. But the story isn’t about getting into university, it’s about the greed and ambition that comes from that setting, so I think viewers were able to relate to it pretty well.”
He concluded, “We will soon return with Yoon Hyun Mi and Jo Hyun Tak’s next project.”
