Kim Young Ho Completes Surgery Following Cancer Diagnosis + Shows Gratitude For Everyone’s Support
Kim Yong Ho has delivered his gratitude for the kind and encouraging words he received following a diagnosis and surgery for sarcoma cancer.
On March 14, Kim Yong Ho revealed, “After being diagnosed with sarcoma cancer last month, I was recently admitted to the hospital and underwent surgery yesterday. It hasn’t been too long since I woke up from anesthesia.”
A sarcoma is a rare kind of cancer. It refers to a malignant tumor that grows in cells that connect and support various kinds of tissues such as the fat, muscles, nerves, blood vessels, and lymphatic ducts. Kim Yong Ho received a tumor removal surgery in his thigh and plans to begin anti-cancer treatment.
The actor said, “I think the tumor began to develop when I was acting in the musical ‘Iron Mask,’ but I was not aware at the time. My leg did hurt, and afterwards, the tumor grew a lot so I ended up removing 30 centimeters of it. It’s more important now that I have to begin the anti-cancer treatment.”
The actor also showed gratitude to those who sent him encouragement and support following the news of his diagnosis. Kim Young Ho said, “I was contacted by many of my celebrity colleagues, as well as people with whom I’m in business.” He continued, “Around 1,000 people contacted and worried about me. I’m thankful that there are people who cry [for my illness] with me. While I have not seen the reaction from the public yet, I’m grateful that they wished me a full recovery.”
In addition, Kim Young Ho took to Instagram and further expressed his gratitude. The actor said, “The surgery went well thanks to many people who worried and prayed for me. It’s going to be a tough fight from now on, but I will not forget about the support you are sending me right now. Thank you very much for your thoughts that [you] were ready to show tears for me.”
Kim Young Ho made his debut in 1999 with the film “City of the Rising Sun.” The actor recently appeared in the 2018 drama “Suits” with Jang Dong Gun and Park Hyung Sik.
