EXO's Chen Talks About Topping Music Charts With Solo Debut

EXO’s Chen has made an impressive solo debut!

On April 1 at 6 p.m. KST, Chen released his highly-anticipated first mini album “April, and a flower” through various online music sites. The title track “Beautiful Goodbye” won first place on seven major realtime music charts in Korea including Melon, Genie, Buggs, Soribada, Olleh Music, Momople, and Naver Music.

Furthermore, Chen’s solo mini album showcased its global success by topping iTunes Top Album charts around the world, sweeping No. 1 in at least 32 different countries.

In a recent interview on April 2, Chen talked about the success of his new solo album. He revealed, “While preparing for the solo album, rather than thinking about rankings, my heart was filled with gratitude as it felt meaningful to even just showcase my album.”

Chen shared, “It became a good experience to be able to see the small details beyond what I already knew of the hard work and efforts of the staff I’ve worked together with, and I thought that this was a good opportunity to look back again on myself, so I didn’t have expectations for the rankings, but I was very surprised and happy that many people expressed their interest and listened [to the song] after its release.” He added, “In the future, I want to showcase the side of me that’s working even harder to continue to grow, and I really wanted to deliver my thanks once more.”

“Beautiful Goodbye” is an emotional ballad with detailed piano playing that perfectly showcases Chen’s gorgeous vocals as he sings about preparing to say farewell to his lover. Check out Chen’s music video for “Beautiful Goodbye” here.
