"Svaha: The Sixth Finger" Issues Apology And Replaces Controversial Image In Film
“Svaha: The Sixth Finger” has apologized and finished replacing a controversial image from the film.
On April 5, representatives from the film stated, “We’ve completed replacing the photo that had become a problem on IPTV and digital cable. We once again bow our heads and sincerely apologize.”
The film was previously embroiled in a controversy after a photo of Hongam Na Cheol was shown with his face photoshopped and replaced with that of Kim Je Seok (played by Jung Dong Hwan), a fictional cult leader from the movie. Hongam Na Cheol was an independence fighter who founded the religious movement Daejongism.
Representatives from “Svaha: The Sixth Finger” had released a statement at the time saying, “We were unable to recognize that part [of the film], and it was a clear mistake by the production team. We apologize. We will replace the scene from the film as soon as possible.”
“Svaha: The Sixth Finger” is a mystery thriller about a pastor who encounters mysterious people and incidents as he works to expose emerging religious groups. Actors such as Lee Jung Jae, Park Jung Min, and Jin Seon Kyu appear in the film.
