BLACKPINK's "Kill This Love" Officially Breaks YouTube Record For MV With Most Views In 1st 24 Hours
BLACKPINK’s “Kill This Love” MV made the greatest 24-hour debut in YouTube history!
On April 5 at midnight KST, BLACKPINK returned with their new title track “Kill This Love” and a music video for the song.
On April 8 KST, YouTube announced the “Kill This Love” MV as the music video with the highest views in the first 24 hours since its release.
“Kill This Love” officially reached 56.7 million views in its first 24 hours, surpassing the previous record of 55.4 million views set by Ariana Grande’s “Thank u, next” last November. BTS’s “IDOL” previously held the record for K-pop music videos, getting 45.9 million views on its first day.
YouTube’s official view count is different from the view count that appears immediately to viewers. Their website states, “To verify that views are real and accurate, YouTube may temporarily slow down, freeze, or adjust the view count, as well as discard low-quality playbacks.”
The unofficial number of views gathered by “Kill This Love” MV in the first 24 hours, prior to the adjustments made by YouTube, were 49.9 million views.
Meanwhile, “Kill This Love” also became the fastest K-pop music video to gather 100 million views on YouTube, and BLACKPINK became the first K-Pop girl group to top the U.S. iTunes Top Songs chart with their new track.
