Performing fourth, Kim Jae Hwan chose to cover Shin Seung Hoon’s song “I Believe.” This song became popular as the OST for the hit film “My Sassy Girl.”
Kim Jae Hwan said, “I heard that Shin Seung Hoon’s ‘I Believe’ even made it to the Oricon charts in Japan. I want to be part of the ballad Hallyu wave like Shin Seung Hoon was.”
His performance, which was self-accompanied by a guitar, was emotional not only for the audience but for Kim Jae Hwan, who teared up at one point in the song.
Moon Hee Jun commented, “Maybe he was thinking of Wanna One. When he’s on stage, he’s bound to think about his members.”
Gummy said, “He has a diverse voice that is both clear and husky. I was surprised to see him sing so delicately while playing guitar at the same time.”
Kim Jae Hwan said after the performance, “I’m going solo after a long time promoting in a group and a lot of things were going through my head. However, I think that I did a good job on stage today so I’m happy.”
Kim Jae Hwan was able to score 741 votes from the audience and beat the previous performer, Jung Dong Ha. His score held through the two subsequent performance as well, meaning that Kim Jae Hwan took home the final win this episode.
