Yoon Ji Sung Talks About His Latest Album, Thanks Fans Ahead Of Enlistment

April 30, The Star magazine revealed Yoon Ji Sung’s May pictorial, his last solo cover shoot ahead of his military enlistment on May 14.

Talking about his latest album “Dear Diary,” Yoon Ji Sung said, “I was thinking about what’s most secretive in the world, and I thought about diaries. There are a lot of acoustic songs in the new album, and the handwriting and photos in the design were all written and taken by me.”

“Showing myself on stage is great, but I wanted to share more of myself in my daily life, and I wrote honestly about things that have been difficult for me.”

Yoon Ji Sung was the first Wanna One member to release a solo album with “Aside,” and he said he’s very satisfied with what he’s achieved. “It was a first step in showing the direction of the music that I will be making, and I didn’t want to the public or my fans to feel that it was too much.” He added that while there may be people that don’t feel his releases were satisfying, he’s thankful that there are people that are listening to his music.

He expressed his deep gratitude to fans, saying that it’s not easy to like something when you know that an end is coming. “Despite [knowing there was an end], [Wanna One] fans loved us, and I’m at once both sincerely sorry and thankful.”

On questions about his age, Yoon Ji Sung said, “I don’t really notice my age. When people ask me what it’s like to head into my 30s, I wonder what’s so important about that. I will spend this year just the same as I have always: thankful for what I have, doing my best, and living every moment to its fullest.”

In a message to fans ahead of his enlistment, Yoon Ji Sung once again expressed how thankful he is for all of them. “My fans always look at me with such love in their eyes. I’m always doing well, so I hope that you’re not sad because of me. Thanks to my fans, I’m so happy, and I wonder if it’s okay for me to be loved so much. I hope everyone is happy.”
