"Kang's Kitchen 2" Announces Format Changes Due To Staggering Number Of Visitors On 1st Day
Even though the restaurant just opened, it looks like the second season of “Kang’s Kitchen” will be bigger than ever!
“Kang’s Kitchen 2” had their first opening on May 4 and there were so many people at the venue that the staff has had to announce changes to how they are running the restaurant.
They took to the show’s official Instagram account to state, “We were originally planning to hand out numbers from 8:30 a.m. KST to 10:30 a.m. KST. However, due to the number of people who are at the venue (approximately 10,000 people), even just handing out numbers will take three to four more hours.”
The staff also revealed that they have decided to open the restaurant for dinner and lunch, instead of just at lunch as originally planned. Those who are randomly selected at 11 a.m. KST will eat during lunch hours, and a second draw will take place at 4 p.m. KST for the dinner hours. They also explained that from the next opening, the restaurant will do online draws instead of running on-site events, so as to reduce the heavy congestion around the area.
“Kang’s Kitchen 2” is taking place at a Hanok (traditional Korean home) cafe in Gyeongju. Though the staff had kept the location under wraps, rumors had spread online and a waiting line began growing as the sun began to rise. Hundreds of people had gathered at the cafe even before numbers were handed out.
The “Kang’s Kitchen” series is a spin-off of tvN’s “New Journey to the West” and follows the cast as they run a restaurant together. The first season ended in great success, and it looks like the second season will do even better.
“Kang’s Kitchen 2” will premiere on May 31 at 9:10 p.m. KST.
