Watch: Cast Of "Master In The House" Experiences The Intense Life Of Firefighters Through Training

The members of “Master in the House” witnessed what it takes to be a firefighter on this week’s episode!

On the May 5 broadcast, Lee Seung Gi, Lee Sang Yoon, Yang Se Hyung, and BTOB’s Yook Sungjae went through a series of firefighter training exercises that left them in awe of those in the profession.

First, they undertook training for back draft, which entails a sudden inflow of air that causes a fire to grow. The firefighters recreated a back draft situation by first closing the doors to a trailer on fire and then opening a window to let oxygen in. Upon seeing the smoke billowing out of the trailer and air being sucked in, Yook Sungjae commented, “It looks like hell.” The members were all shocked when the fire suddenly burst forth.

Next, the cast held a stamina competition against Firefighter Hong in which they raced him up flights of stairs carrying heavy firefighting equipment and hauled a hose up to the side of the building. Lee Seung Gi rose as a dark horse and stayed on Firefigher Hong’s tail, ultimately losing to him by a mere four seconds.

Exhausted, Lee Seung Gi conveyed his respect for the firefighters. “It’s hard to even just get your body up these stairs, but the fact that you save people while carrying an air tank and dragging a hose is really amazing.”

He then asked why Firefighter Hong does this work given its physically taxing nature. The firefighter responded, “It’s honestly very tiring, and there are a lot of scary situations, but while we do it, people extend kind words to us. Without these small things, I wouldn’t be able to be a firefighter.”
