Prosecution Files Pretrial Detention Warrant For Choi Jong Hoon On Sexual Assault Charges
A pretrial detention warrant has been filed for Choi Jong Hoon.
On May 8, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office revealed that pretrial detention warrants were filed on May 7 for three men including Choi Jong Hoon on charges including aggravated rape.
A pretrial detention warrant allows for a suspect to be detained for longer than 48 hours. It is granted if the court rules that there is potential for a suspect to flee or destroy evidence.
The three individuals including Choi Jong Hoon are being suspected of sexually assaulting women on three occasions in 2016 including in January and March. One of the cases has been forwarded to the prosecution, while the two other cases are being investigated by the Women’s and Juvenile Affairs Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
The judgment to determine the validity of the warrants will be held at the Seoul Central District Court on May 9 at 10:30 a.m. KST.
