PD Shin Won Ho To Reportedly Reunite With 'Reply' Series Writer For New Medical Drama

Director Shin Won Ho, who is behind several hit dramas such as the “Reply” series and “Prison Playbook,” will reportedly return with a new drama for the first time in two years!

On May 12, an industry representatives reported that the director is working on a drama on humanism that will be set in a hospital and tells the story of a desperate struggle between doctors and patients. The drama is reported to be aiming for a November air date and is currently holding auditions. It has drawn even more attention as it is said to be Shin Won Ho’s first collaboration with “Reply” series screenwriter Lee Woo Jung since “Reply 1988” in 2015.

Many are highly anticipating Shin Won Ho’s return due to the unconventional subject matter and production of his dramas. Through the “Reply” series, he conjured up strong feelings of nostalgia, and in “Prison Playbook,” he portrayed the humanistic interactions between prisoners and prison guards. As such, although this new project is reported to be set in an emergency room, it is expected to go beyond a simple medical drama.

Another source stated that casting auditions for the drama have drawn 200 actors so far and have proceeded in secret with actors not being given even a synopsis of the drama.

In response to the reports, a representative of tvN commented, “We are in the process of confirming reports of Shin Won Ho’s return.”
