Kim Jung Tae's Agency Shares Update On His Battle With Liver Cancer

Kim Jung Tae has concluded surgery and is on the road to recovery!

Last October, the actor was diagnosed with an early stage of liver cancer. As a result, he withdrew from SBS’s “Empress’s Dignity” in which he was to play Ma Pil Joo, the emperor’s right hand man and confidant.

Within the last seven months, Kim Jung Tae is reported to have underwent surgery and is in the midst of recovery. A representative of his agency The Queen AMC recently told OSEN, “Kim Jung Tae has undergone liver surgery and is now recovering. There was previously some misinformation that his surgery was delayed, but this is not the truth.”

The source continued, “According to the doctors, the problematic parts of his liver have been removed. His liver is actually in a healthier state than before the cancer was discovered. He is now going through his daily life without difficulty.”

However, the agency was careful in stating, “As it is with everyone, it is difficult for someone who has recovered after a major illness to be in as good of a condition as someone who has been continuously healthy.”

As for his future path, the agency noted, “With his strong determination to return to acting, Kim Jung Tae will focus on his recovery in order to improve his condition and display great performances as he did before through ample rest.”

Kim Jung Tae debuted in 1999 with the film “The Uprising” and has since drawn attention as a scene stealer in many notable projects such as the dramas “Bad Guy” and “Oh My Venus,” as well as the movies “Friend,” “Sunflower,” and “Miracle in Cell No.7.”
