JYP Entertainment's Rookie Actress Ryu Won To Make Hollywood Debut In New Film
JYP Entertainment’s rookie actress Ryu Won will be making her Hollywood debut!
Ryu Won has been cast in a leading role of the Sony Pictures film “PEEL.” The film will tell the story of a man with an interesting and innocent personality who goes through changes as he meets a variety of people. Ryu Won will play Choon Ja, a Korean American woman who lives with her grandmother, and she will act alongside Emile Hirsch.
“PEEL” was filmed in Alabama, U.S. in February, and was screened for the first time at the 34th Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
Ryu Won is fluent in English, having lived in the U.S. for approximately eight years, and her strong acting skills and JYP’s global management know-how has allowed her to aim for a Hollywood debut from the beginning. The team behind “PEEL” is said to have cast Ryu Won after watching the audition tape JYP sent in and having a video call with her.
Ryu Won first made her debut in 2015 in KBS’s “Uncontrollably Fond” and then appeared in MBC’s “Missing 9.” She has also appeared in music videos for EXO’s Baekhyun’s “Take You Home,” 2PM’s Wooyoung’s “Going Going,” and Hwang Chi Yeol’s Chinese song “We Did Our Best” (literal title). She is also set to appear in SBS’s “Vagabond” this September as weapons lobbyist Miki.
