"Music Bank" Cancels This Week's Episode Due To Boat Accident In Budapest
This week’s episode of “Music Bank” will be canceled.
On May 30, news outlet SpoTV News reported that KBS 2TV’s “Music Bank” decided to cancel this week’s broadcast due to the sinking of a ship in Hungary.
A boat carrying 33 Korean citizens was reported to have capsized and sank in the Danube River in Budapest on May 30 (local time). At 9 p.m. Hungarian time, the small boat carrying the Korean tourists collided with a cruise ship, and seven Koreans and one Hungarian crew member have been confirmed dead. Seven Koreans have been rescued, but 19 of the Korean tourists remain missing. Although Hungarian authorities are searching for these victims, they are struggling with poor weather conditions, including heavy rain.
KBS reportedly held an emergency meeting and ultimately decided to cancel this week’s show as it would not be appropriate to air the program with so many victims. The production staff reportedly notified the artists who were originally scheduled to appear on the live episode on May 31.
KBS later issued an official response and stated, “We have decided to cancel this week’s broadcast due to a cruise ship sinking accident in Hungary. The broadcast on May 31 will be replaced by a recording, and the recording will air on June 7. A separate live broadcast will not be aired on June 7.”
