Choi Woo Shik Talks About Acting With Park Seo Joon In 'Parasite'

Choi Woo Shik recently sat down for an interview to talk about his latest film “Parasite.” In the film, fellow actor Park Seo Joon makes a cameo appearance.

The actors are known for being best friends, and their friendship made it on the big-screen as well when Choi Woo Shik appeared in “Parasite” as Ki Woo, and Park Seo Joon took on the role of Ki Woo’s friend Min Hyuk, a student at a prestigious university.

When asked about Ki Woo and Min Hyuk’s relationship, Choi Woo Shik responded, “The one person Ki Woo can talk to comfortably, besides his family, is Min Hyuk. Their positions and lives are different, but I thought that [their friendship] was possible because he was a longtime friend from before [Ki Woo] became worn out by the world.”

He continued, “Min Hyuk plays an important role even when Ki Woo comes up with his plans. Originally, [Ki Woo] thought they were on the same level, but as he gets to know the world, I thought that [Ki Woo] was trying to keep up with Min Hyuk. I think [Min Hyuk] was the object of some kind of envy.”

Choi Woo Shik also added, “I was so relieved that [Park Seo Joon] took on the role of Min Hyuk. When Ki Woo meets with Min Hyuk, Ki Woo needed to look comfortable, but Seo Joon hyung, who I’m comfortable with in real life, came so I think that’s why we were able to produce a relaxed scene.”

He commented, “I made a cameo appearance in [Park Seo Joon’s] next project ‘The Divine Fury.’ It’s not that we do trade-offs, but I read the script because I’m friendly with director Kim Joo Hwan. I ended up making a special appearance because [the script] was so entertaining.”

“Parasite” is about an unemployed man (played by Song Kang Ho), who gets involved in the lives of a wealthy family when his eldest son (played by Choi Woo Shik) begins tutoring their daughter.
