Lee Hi Describes Her Close Friendship With Akdong Musician's Lee Soo Hyun

Lee Hi recently made her comeback with mini album “24℃” and title track “No One.”

At an interview, she talked about her new album as well as her friend and labelmate Akdong Musician’s Lee Soo Hyun.

Asked if YG Entertainment’s CEO Yang Hyun Suk gave her any words of encouragement ahead of her comeback, she shared, “He really liked the title track, and he told me to work hard.”

The central theme of her new song “No One” is loneliness. Lee Hi revealed that she used to enjoy spending time alone, but recently she has been meeting up with her friends more frequently. “The biggest source of strength when I feel lonely is my mother. Akdong Musician’s Lee Soo Hyun also gives me a lot of strength.”

Elaborating on her friendship with Lee Soo Hyun, Lee Hi explained, “Soo Hyun lives in the apartment in front of mine, so I see her almost every day. It’s a daily routine to meet and eat together once she’s done with her radio show and I’m done recording for the day. I enjoy watching people play escape room games on TV, but I didn’t think I’d be able to do it in real life because I get scared easily. But I went with Soo Hyun to try it out.”

In response to a question about which musician she personally relies on for advice, she named Lee Soo Hyun. She said, “She’s younger than me, but sometimes she doesn’t feel younger. The things she says to me in passing are helpful. There was a time when I got tired of having too many activities and promoting alone as a solo artist, and that’s when Soo Hyun told me, ‘If you think of this time as one that won’t ever come back, it’s a really valuable moment.’ Hearing that, I was motivated to work harder.”
