On June 13, a source from the army stated to Sports Chosun, “Xiumin completed his five-week basic military training at the Nodo recruit training center in Yanggu County of Gangwon Province today and took part in a completion ceremony. For the remainder of his military service, he will be serving as an assistant instructor.”

The source denied that Xiumin had received a specific commendation for his performance in the military. However, as the opportunity to become an assistant instructor only comes to soldiers with physical strength and high scores in drills, it is likely that Xiumin received excellent scores during his basic training.

On June 13, Xiumin took part in a completion ceremony to mark the end of five weeks of basic training. Photos of the idol were shared on social media, and he was shining in his beret and clean-cut military uniform as he appeared at the event.

According to an individual who attended the event, Xiumin received a commendation for coming in first place out of all the recruits in the overall results. The person stated that Xiumin received top marks in the majority of the tests given during basic training included rifle handling and physical fitness.

Having enlisted on May 7, Xiumin is set to be discharged on December 6, 2020.
