7 Times BTS's RM Proved His 148 IQ
BTS’s leader RM is loved by fans all over the world for his powerful rap skills and charming personality. However, he has another trait that makes him an amazing artist and a great leader: his jaw-dropping IQ. (Or, as fellow BTS member Jin famously put it, his “sexy brain.”) Here are seven moments when RM really impressed us with his smarts.
1. When “Beatles Code” Revealed His Flawless Grades
When BTS featured on “Beatles Code” in 2014, RM revealed that he was a model high school student. He placed within the top 1.3 percent of students in the nation on his freshman high school exams for language, mathematics, foreign language, and social studies. The hosts also revealed that he mastered English as a middle schooler.

2. When He Solved This Brainteaser On “Problematic Man”
In this episode, the cast was presented with a problem involving an explorer hoping to cross the desert in six days. Each person in his crew could carry four days’ worth of food — so how many people does the explorer need to take on his journey? The cast struggled with the question, until RM stepped up to the board and succinctly explained his answer. Even the hosts were seriously impressed with his abilities!
3. When He Solved This Puzzle In Less Than Five Seconds
Suga presented BTS’s very own quiz show to promote their comeback in 2015 in which all of the members competed to solve puzzles as quickly as possible. Unsurprisingly, RM passed this game with flying colors, and impressed all of his group members as well. He solved this problem in seconds, answering that the number in place of the question mark should be a four because the numbers in the leftmost column are all the sum of the numbers in the three columns to the right of it. Just look at Jungkook’s and V’s stunned faces at his speedy response!
4. When He Solved The Locker Puzzle On “Run! BTS” Episode 52
While solving this escape room was definitely a team effort, RM’s brainpower really pulled through in the last few minutes of this episode of “Run! BTS.” With some quick thinking and a little help from teammates J-Hope, Jimin, and Jungkook, he has the last few lockers opened and the puzzles solved in minutes.
5. When He Spoke At The United Nations
BTS partnered with UNICEF on the LOVE MYSELF campaign in 2017, with the goal of bettering the world through music and raising money for the UNICEF #ENDviolence project. BTS was invited to speak at the United Nations in 2018 for the launch of Generation Unlimited, and RM’s touching speech quickly gained international attention. His eloquence and professionalism in such a nerve-wracking situation are surely a testament to his superb intelligence.

6. When He Revealed The Hidden Meanings In “Speak Yourself”
On April 24, RM blessed fans with a V Live in which he gave an in-depth explanation of the themes and messages of BTS’s EP “Map of the Soul: Persona” and his solo track “Intro : Persona.” Jaws dropped as RM unpacked all of the hidden meanings behind his lyrics, and fans were left with a newfound appreciation for all of the hard work BTS’s leader puts into their albums. His thought process and attention to detail in this V Live are fascinating, and proof of how smart RM really is.
7. When He Surprised Us With His Global Knowledge
In Season 3 of “Run! BTS,” the boys visited Canada as part of their world tour. They played a quick quiz game, the camera director firing off names of European countries as the members scrambled to name its capital city. RM shocked everyone by answering his incorrectly — until it was revealed that he had named the capital of Austria in its official language, German, rather than with its Korean pronunciation. Very impressive!
