"Miss Trot" Confirmed To Return For 2nd Season As "Mister Trot"
TV Chosun’s “Miss Trot” will be returning for a second season with a twist!
“Miss Trot” gained lots of attention as an audition program on the search for the next generation star to lead trot’s second golden age. It achieved 18.1 percent in viewership ratings and topped programs in its same timeslot.
A source from the show said that they decided to produce season two of “Mister Trot” after receiving requests from viewers and producers from all walks of life. The show will go on the search for male trot singers and find the “10 billion won (approximately $8.5 million) trot man” who will follow in the footsteps of season one winner Song Ga In.
“Mister Trot” will open its doors to international applicants and find applicants passionate about trot in other countries to increase the status of trot as Korean Wave content. The show will accept participation from all men in their teens to age 45. Applicants who pass the first round with their audition clip and application will be contacted before auditioning in front of the staff. Contestants will then be selected for the final preliminary round.
First season winner Song Ga In has been appearing in many variety shows following her win and will soon be launching her own reality show. The other top 12 contestants have also been busy performing a sold-out national tour as well as free concerts in culturally marginalized areas in Korea.
