Lee Hi Describes What Music Means To Her
After making her first comeback in three years with “No One,” Lee Hi participated in a photo shoot and interview for GQ Korea.
Lee Hi revealed her preference for older songs, sharing, “Like those songs, I try to speak up but I can’t. I just keep thinking about things and then speak about them later.” She continued, “For me, music gives me time to become more honest. Things that I couldn’t say, things that I couldn’t live out in my own life, and my true self are honestly expressed through my music.”
Regarding her self-composed track, “20MIN,” she revealed, “This song is written from experience. Just like how I become more honest when I sing, the same happens when I write songs. I can only write about things I’ve personally experienced.”
Lee Hi concluded, “If you thought of me as an ‘adult-like’ child on ‘K-pop Star,’ I hope you can now watch me grow naturally more mature. In the future, I want to continue honestly and responsibly doing what I love and am good at.”
Look out for her full interview in GQ Korea’s upcoming July issue.
