10 Guy/Girl K-Pop Collab Stages That Will Leave You Wanting More

Back in the day, K-pop experienced a surge of exciting collaborations between second-generation male and female idols (both solo and groups). While it’s hard to see as many of these mixed stages nowadays, we still manage to witness an awesome selection of these kinds of collaborations during the award show season.

From past to present, here are 10 guy/girl K-pop stages that have us eager to see more performances of the sort!

1. BIGBANG X Lee Hyori

If you’re familiar with BIGBANG or Lee Hyori, you’ll know that they are avid fans of one another. Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Mnet KM Music Festival (now called the Mnet Asian Music Awards), Hyori and BIGBANG set the stage on fire for nearly 13 minutes when they showcased their respective top hits. Apart from the breathtaking performances, one particular moment that stunned the crowd was when rapper T.O.P kissed Hyori. This collaboration stage is iconic, and definitely one for the K-pop history books!

2. BIGBANG X Wonder Girls

This is BIGBANG’s second entry on the list, and it’s well-earned. Their explosive performance alongside Wonder Girls definitely had jaws dropping. From their one-on-one renditions of “Irony,” “Lies,” “Tell Me,” “Haru Haru,” and “Nobody” to their respective homages to “So Hot” and “Last Goodbye,” this is truly a stage to remember!

3. Girls’ Generation X 2PM

This special pairing definitely turned heads with their lively performance for the 2009 Mnet Km Music Festival. Their combined energy, charisma, and stunning compatibility were on full display throughout their performance of “Night Fever.” As if this heart-fluttering stage hasn’t got us swooning already, we saw them feature together once more in a commercial film for “Carribean Bay” a year later.

4. Super Junior X SHINee X Girls’ Generation

This blazing alliance, brought to you by SM Entertainment’s talented groups, is truly a sight for sore eyes. The set may be short, but the harmony and glamour exuded by the members of Super Junior, SHINee, and Girls’ Generation can be felt nonetheless with every move these idols make. I definitely want to see more of these same-label stages, maybe even featuring the company’s juniors!

5. GOT7 X SEVENTEEN X GFRIEND X TWICE

Now this is the kind of stage we definitely want to see more of! While it’s often easier to see these phenomenal groups in perhaps more cute or fresh, sleek settings, they really shook things up with this flamboyant act. Their sultry take on Park Jin Young’s “Who’s Your Mama” is proof that there is so much about these idols that we have yet to see — perhaps through more group collaborations!

6. Suzy X EXO’s Baekhyun

Although shy at first, Baekhyun and Suzy opened up bit by bit to one another with every passing minute, melting us with their sweet smiles and gestures throughout the song. Baekhyun especially made our hearts combust when he showed his true gentlemanly manners by giving Suzy his hand while she was getting off the podium. This collab is definitely cuteness overload, and I can’t wait to see more idol duets in the future.

7. Sunmi X SHINee’s Taemin

All hail the king and queen of sex appeal! Although they only reprised one another’s key point choreography for “Gashina” and “Move” at the end of each respective song, those few minutes were more than enough to blow minds and leave everyone in absolute awe at their magnificent stage presence and hypnotizing aura. This makes me think about their next potential collab — the possibilities are endless, but a fiery and charismatic artist like Chungha would definitely be a great candidate!

8. Loco X MAMAMOO’s Hwasa

You wouldn’t know that you needed a Loco and Hwasa collaboration until you’ve heard this one, and then you’ll be begging for more! The chemistry between the two artists is undeniable and their delivery of the song live is simply flawless. These two are surely a musical match made in heaven!

9. N X Jimin X Yein X Mina X Momo X Cheng Xiao

Brought to you by some of the most eloquent contemporary idol dancers, modern dance has never been illustrated in such an elegant and compelling manner as it was on the 2016 Gayo Daejun award show. “Ethereal” and “majestic” are just a few words to describe the delicacy of such a captivating set, and I for one definitely hope to see more of these fine collaborative stages in future award shows and festivals.

10. Jinyoung X Yugyeom X Ten X Seulgi X YooA X Eunjin X Lisa

Brought to you by some of K-pop’s finest hip hop dancers, this street dance team brought a totally cool vibe to the 2016 Gayo Daejun award show with their impeccable synergy. They shook the audience as they flaunted their dynamic moves on stage, getting everyone hyped for the show (and for more collabs)!
