Court Issues Arrest Warrant For Kang Ji Hwan In Sexual Assault Case

The courts have issued an arrest warrant for actor Kang Ji Hwan, who is currently being investigated on charges of sexual assault.

In the evening of July 12, judge Han Sung Jin of the Suwon District Court issued the warrant on the grounds that, “There is a risk of destruction of evidence.”

Kang Ji Hwan had undergone questioning at court in the morning of the same day as police from the Bundang Police Station had filed a request for a pretrial detention warrant. After leaving the courts, Kang Ji Hwan gave a brief statement apologizing for putting the victims in a situation where they are suffering because of comments written on articles. He also stated that he will fully cooperate with the investigation.

On July 9, Kang Ji Hwan was arrested on charges of sexual assault against two outsourced staff members who were at his home. After having a company dinner with agency employees and outsourced staff members, Kang Ji Hwan and the two staff members are said to have moved to his home to have more drinks together. One of the victims provided testimony that she witnessed Kang Ji Hwan attempting to sexually assault the other victim.

Kang Ji Hwan’s agency has announced that he has since halted all activities to focus on the investigation and his drama “Joseon Survival” stated that it would be canceling this week’s episode and would not be airing any reruns. They are currently looking for a replacement.
