Watch: Cha Eun Woo And Shin Se Kyung Struggle With Societal Expectations In "Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung" Teaser
“Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung” has released a new highlight video showing a preview of the upcoming drama!
The drama is about the romance between an aspiring palace historian named Goo Hae Ryung (played by Shin Se Kyung), who dreams of an equal society, and a lonely prince named Lee Rim (played by ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo), who lives a secret life as a popular romance novelist.
The video starts off with Shin Se Kyung dozing off during bride lessons as she declares she doesn’t want to get married. She asks, “Can’t we just live like this? I can just read the whole day, and if there are any interesting objects, I can just take them apart.” The caption describes her as an old maid and “Hanyang’s problematic woman” who is stubborn and bold, and she vents her frustrations about laws and censorship.
Described as “Hanyang’s problematic prince,” Cha Eun Woo is amazed that his books are selling like hot cakes. However, his happiness is short-lived as he gets in trouble with his father, the king, and he is banned from reading or writing another book.
As the two flounder through their own problems, they somehow meet up and open up to each other as they talk about places they want to visit, like the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy and pyramids in Egypt. Shin Se Kyung asks if there’s anywhere he wants to go, and he becomes quiet in thought. She says, “If you ever go there next time, take me with you,” and Cha Eun Woo smiles as he willingly agrees to her.
