On July 17, SBS’s “8 O’Clock News” shared further details of Kang Ji Hwan’s sexual assault case.
It’s reported that since the actor’s house is in a remote location without adequate cell phone service, the victims stated that they had to wait over 40 minutes after first trying to report the assault before the police were dispatched.
SBS reports that when the police arrived at Kang Ji Hwan’s home on the day of the assault, he had turned on a karaoke machine and was singing.
The women also stated that there were many things about Kang Ji Hwan’s actions that were hard to understand, such as how he ignored one of the victims when she protested and tried to stop him while he assaulted the other victim.
In addition, when the police arrived, Kang Ji Hwan was the one who took the officers to the room where the women were. In a previous interview, the women stated that they locked themselves in the room while waiting for help.
SBS reports that as the police consider many of his actions that day to be abnormal, they requested a drug test on Kang Ji Hwan by the National Forensic Service.
In addition, it’s reported that the police have received the results of a DNA test related to this incident. It’s said that Kang Ji Hwan’s DNA was found on the body of a victim.
Kang Ji Hwan is suspected of sexual assault against two outsourced staff members who were at his home on July 9 for a work-related gathering. With Kang Ji Hwan admitting to the majority of charges, the police plan to forward his case to the prosecution on the morning of July 18 with a recommendation for indictment.
