Shin Se Kyung Is An Unhappy Bride In "Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung"

MBC’s “Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung” has revealed new stills of Shin Se Kyung!

The drama is about the romance between an aspiring palace historian named Goo Hae Ryung (played by Shin Se Kyung), who dreams of an equal society, and a lonely prince named Lee Rim (played by ASTRO‘s Cha Eun Woo), who lives a secret life as a popular romance novelist.

In the first photo, Goo Hae Ryung receives a traditional Korean bridal makeover consisting of yeonji gonji (red dots on the cheeks), jokduri (a crown headpiece), and traditional wedding clothes. Despite the special occasion, Goo Hae Ryung’s soulless eyes hint at her disapproval of the ordeal.

Other images showcase Goo Hae Ryung secretly escaping the wedding through a back door with the help of her handmaiden. She later throws her traditional wedding clothes away and hesitates before climbing down a wall.

In the final still, the wedding ceremony is in turmoil and Lee Seung Hoon (played by Seo Young Joo), who wears a samo (a type of traditional Korean hat) and blue wedding robes, and Goo Hae Ryung’s older brother Goo Jae Kyung (played by Gong Jeong Hwan) are left speechless with shock.

The production staff stated, “[Goo Hae Ryung] will stage the escape operation of her life ahead of the wedding ceremony. Please check today’s broadcast (July 18) to see if her operation is a success and what consequences it will bring.”

“Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung” airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8:55 p.m. KST.
