Update: Hwang Ha Na Receives Suspended Sentence For Illegal Drug Use Case + Released From Detention Center

After receiving her sentence for the illegal use of drugs, Hwang Ha Na has been released from her detention center.

On July 19, she was released from the Suwon detention center. As she was released, she apologized to the general public, saying, “I have self-reflected and [decided] to break off from my past and live an honest life. I’m sorry.”

She bowed and also apologized to the staff in the detention center by saying, “I want to express my gratitude to those who have been worrying about me. I will never make [this kind of] mistake in my life again. I’m sorry.”

In regards to evading a prison sentence, she said, “I’ll live earnestly and self-reflect. I will not appeal.”

When asked to comment on the suspicions of her father being close to the Commissioner General of the Korean National Police Agency, she avoided directly answering the question and said, “No. I’m sorry,” and left the site.

Hwang Ha Na has received her sentence for the illegal use of drugs.

Previously, the prosecution demanded two years of prison for Hwang Ha Na due to her illegal use of Philopon and a drug containing clonazepam.

Her sentencing trial was held on July 19, at which the Suwon District Court sentenced her to a one-year prison sentence suspended for two years of probation, 2.2 million won (approximately $1,878) in fines, protective supervision of 40 hours, and treatment.

The court stated, “We considered that she is reflecting on herself for the crimes, and she has no other criminal record.”

Park Yoochun, who used drugs with Hwang Ha Na, was previously given a 10-month prison sentence suspended for two years of probation and fines of 1.4 million won (approximately $1,195).
