Industry Source Shares Thoughts On Possibility Of Group Formed By Eliminated "Produce X 101" Trainees
An industry source has come forth to say that hopes for a “Produce X 101” spin-off group may not all be for naught!
On the July 19 live finale of Mnet’s “Produce X 101,” the 11 members of the debut team X1 were announced. Shortly after the broadcast, however, fans of the nine eliminated trainees — Lee Jin Hyuk, Kim Min Kyu, Koo Jung Mo, Hwang Yun Seong, Keum Dong Hyun, Tony, Song Yu Vin, Ham Won Jin, and Lee Se Jin — expressed their hopes that a spin-off group with the tentative name BY9 would be formed.
With regard to the possibility that these nine members will be able to debut together, an industry source told JoyNews24 that the chances are not very high, as the different agencies of each of the trainees are likely to have a difficult time coming to an agreement. However, if other eliminated contestants were to take the places of those who aren’t able to reach an agreement, the chances may be much higher, according to the source.
JoyNews24 reveals that the voices of the fans calling for the formation of BY9 have already reached the ears of agencies and the trainees themselves. CJ E&M is also keeping an eye on the trend, and it was reported by JoyNews24 that CJ E&M will positively review the possibility of BY9’s debut if an agency to manage the group shows up.
Sources have stated that if BY9 were to debut, they are expected to be the most buzzworthy of the “Produce 101” spin-off groups due to the high performances of the members and the strong fandom behind them.
However, there are still no set plans. Negotiations with the eliminated trainees’ agencies are anticipated to begin soon.
What are your thoughts on this potential spin-off group?
