Police Begin Investigation Into "Produce X 101" Voting Controversy
The police have begun their investigation into whether the vote counts for the “Produce X 101” were manipulated.
On July 27, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s cyber investigation team stated that they had received a written request for investigation from Mnet and that they have begun their internal investigation into “Produce X 101.”
The controversy began when fans noticed that the gaps in votes between some of the trainees were identical. Mnet denied any manipulation of votes, but on July 24, they released a statement saying that while the rankings were correct, there were errors in the process of calculating and relaying the total numbers of individual votes.
After continued backlash to that statement, Mnet announced that they had submitted a request for investigation.
