SS501’s Kim Kyu Jong has personally confirmed that he is dating a non-celebrity.

Recently, the idol-turned-actor uploaded photos of his trip to Japan with his girlfriend to his Instagram on July 24 and quickly deleted them. However, the photos were saved and spread to online communities.

On July 26, he posted a sincere letter of apology to his fans through his Instagram account, saying, “Peas [his nickname for his fans], I’m sorry I shocked and upset you. I am currently preparing for a movie, musical, and play. I wanted to greet you with good news, but…I am sorry for posting this message so late because I was thinking about what to say. I sincerely apologize for hurting you so much…Thank you always…”

On July 28, Kim Kyu Jong confirmed to Hankook Ilbo, “It’s true that I am currently dating, but the trip to Japan wasn’t recent.” When asked whether his girlfriend is Japanese, he replied, “That’s right. But I am afraid and cautious to talk about it right now.” Furthermore, it was revealed that his girlfriend is a non-celebrity who is currently residing in Korea.

The fact that his trip was to Japan was deemed problematic by some Korean netizens because of the current boycott of all Japanese goods by Korean consumers. This is in response to Japan’s restriction on the export of high-tech resources to Korea.
