Kim Min Kyu On Having A Popular Name + Shares Message For Kim Min Kyu Of "Produce X 101"

Actor Kim Min Kyu has shared thoughts about having the same name as many other stars.

At a recent interview, the actor was asked if he has ever considered a name change. There are several celebrities with the same name including SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu, Jellyfish Entertainment trainee Kim Min Kyu from “Produce X 101,” and another actor (who recently changed his name to Go Geon Han). With athletes and many other public figures, the profiles of almost 40 different people named “Kim Min Kyu” are registered on Korean portal sites.

Kim Min Kyu responded at the interview, “It is a valuable name that my parents gave me, so I have never thought about [a name change],” and jokingly added, “My profile shows up first when searched on a portal site, so it’s alright.”

When asked about the recent popularity of the “Produce X 101” contestant, the actor commented, “His official profile has not been registered [on portal sites] yet, so I still appear first.”

He continued, “When Kim Min Kyu from ‘Produce X 101’ becomes a legal adult, I hope we can have a drink and become friends,” and added, “I hope there can be friendly competition among the many of us named Kim Min Kyu.”
