KBS Considering Temporary Shutdown Of Monday-Tuesday Drama Time Slot
KBS is the latest public broadcaster to consider making changes to the way it airs TV dramas.
On August 2, a source from KBS told OSEN, “We are currently reviewing whether or not to temporarily suspend dramas in the Monday-Tuesday time slot.”
A report earlier that day had stated that KBS would no longer be airing Monday-Tuesday dramas from December 2019 to February 2020. This would mean that “Tale of Nok-Du,” which stars Kim So Hyun and Jang Dong Yoon and premieres in September, would be the last drama to air in that time slot before 2020.
Currently, the next drama slated to air on Mondays and Tuesdays on KBS is “I Wanna Hear Your Song.” The last drama to air in that time slot was “Perfume.”
The other two major public broadcasters, MBC and SBS, have already made the decision to temporarily suspend the Monday-Tuesday drama time slot. MBC will no longer air TV dramas on Monday and Tuesday after the end of “Welcome 2 Life” (the drama premieres on August 5). SBS has already stopped airing Monday-Tuesday dramas after the end of “The Secret Life of My Secretary” in June, choosing to air variety shows in that time slot instead.
