"2019 Idol Star Athletics Championships" Teases An Extra Special Event To Celebrate Its 10th Anniversary

MBC’s “Idol Star Athletics Championships” has dropped hints for the upcoming event this year with three keywords: 10th anniversary, new sport, festival.

August 7, MBC said, “The ‘Idol Star Athletics Championships’ program, which started in 2010, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. This Chuseok, the slogan of the event will be ’10th Festival: Everyone’s Idol Star Athletics Championships,’ and it will be conducted with the concept of a festival, where [the participants] will be able to put their talents, fitness, and charms on full display.”

The event, which has been met with an incredible response every year for the opportunity to see idols in a new element, engaging in friendly competition through various sporting events, will be introducing a new category this year, which was previously announced as eSports. Whether or not there will be more categories added remains to be seen.

This year will also include special competitions between sporting events as well as celebratory performances.

A source from MBC said, “We will do our best so that the sweat the idols spill will be worth it, and so this can be an event for everyone, including both the idols and the fans. We ask for your support for the participating idols.”

“Idol Star Athletics Championships,” which will air over the Chuseok holiday in Korea, will be held on August 12, and certain sporting events that require special locations will be conducted separately.
