"Produce 101 Japan" Reportedly Filming In Korea + Mnet Responds
Mnet released an official statement regarding “Produce 101 Japan”!
It was previously reported that the “Produce 101 Japan” trainees are currently filming at the Paju English Village, where the original Korean “Produce 101” series was filmed.
On August 12, Mnet shared, “Regarding the filming of ‘Produce 101 Japan,’ [Mnet] is only providing support because the [production team from] Japan was hoping to film in Korea due to reasons involving the studio in Japan, production schedule, and more.”
They continued, “Only a portion of the filming is taking place in Korea. [The Japanese production company] is in charge of the show’s production, and it will only air in Japan.”
“Produce 101 Japan” is co-produced by CJ ENM, Yoshimoto Kogyo, and MCIP Holdings. The budget for the large-scale program consists of billions of won (several hundred thousand dollars), and an 11-member group will be formed by votes from Japanese national producers with the goal of debuting in 2020.
