2 Shocking Twists From 1st Week Of 'Strangers From Hell' That Will Have A Lasting Impact On Story

The first two episodes of OCN’s newest drama “Strangers From Hell” were shocking to say the least!

Based on a popular webtoon, “Strangers From Hell” is a new mystery thriller starring Im Siwan as Yoon Jong Woo, an aspiring novelist who moves to Seoul after receiving an internship offer. Premiering to solid ratings on August 21, the first two episodes of the drama showed unexpected twists in some characters including Byun Deuk Jong (played by Park Jong Hwan) and Seo Moon Jo (Lee Dong Wook).

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

1. Byun Deuk Jong (Park Jong Hwan)’s Unexpected Twin Brother

The drama began with Yoon Jong Woo moving to Seoul for a new job and settling in at the seemingly ordinary Eden Goshiwon (an economical type of housing commonly leased by students preparing for an important exam) that is 190,000 won (approximately $160) per month. The Goshiwon is full of mysterious people, and among these people, Byun Deuk Jong (Park Jong Hwan) caught viewers’ attention with his shaved head, strange laughs, and stutter. More than anything, the actor left viewers in awe by showing perfect synchronization with the character from the original webtoon.

At the end of the first episode, Byun Deuk Jong’s twin brother Byun Deuk Soo enters the scene, and this alerted the start of character reinterpretation. As identical twins, the brothers share the same face, but they have different personalities. Park Jong Hwan is set to bring more excitement to the drama as he plays both of the twin brothers.

2. Seo Moon Jo (Lee Dong Wook)’s True Identity

Even before the premiere, many have been curious and waited for the appearance of Seo Moon Jo, played by Lee Dong Wook. While he made his entrance in the first episode as a talented and kind dentist, Seo Moon Jo is quick to reveal his true identity as he murders Yoo Ki Hyun (Lee Hyun Wook) after calling him a “failure.”

This unexpected character twist of Seo Moon Jo piqued viewers’ curiosity as to how he will play a role on the character development of Yoon Jong Woo in the future.

In addition to Lee Dong Wook and Park Jong Hwan, other actors including Lee Jung Eun and Lee Joong Ok also received much praise from the public for showing perfect synchronization with their characters. Anticipation is high to see how the plot twists in these characters will have an effect on Yoon Jong Woo as the story continues to unfold.

The upcoming episode of “Strangers From Hell” will air on September 7 at 10:30 p.m. KST.
